Week 5

This week was an interesting one. It really focused on why we wanted to be entrepreneurs, and also some of the realities of being entrepreneurs. If you are looking for the "get rich quick" business this isn't it. Yes some people start their own businesses and make big money fast, but most work at it day after day, year after year, until they have large success.
I realized this week that the biggest reason I want to be an entrepreneur is so I can help people not struggle. I want to have a company, and work with all my family members, or at least give them the opportunity to, so that they have a good strong company to work and grow at. I also want to be my own boss, I don't want to punch the clock for someone else's dreams. I want to grow my own dreams, take a long lunch if I want, and work from home if I need to. I also love staying home with my children, running my own business would allow me to work, support us, and still be able to attend school conferences, and plays. I would be able to "do it all" in a way.

Week 3

This week I learned a lot of valuable information. The thing that stuck with me most is how important honesty is. Being ethical is the more important business practice, and almost a surefire way to guarantee success. If we are ethical and honest, we can save a headache down the road because it will eventually catch up to us.  I also liked talking about lifelong learning and how it can help us be successful. I think lifelong learning is important to being an entrepreneur, especially with how fast the world moves. Things are always changing and if you aren't trying to learn you will get left behind.
I think that sometimes it seems easier to take the low road, but the consequences are drastic. I think it is also important to remember the blessings we will receive by being honest. Sometimes blessings we wouldn't even think of. The blessings may not always come right away, but they will come at the time when you most need them to.

I also liked reading what President Kimpball said about clean money, this is true with not only selling inappropriate things, but with doing inappropriate things in our business. If we know that we were honest and faithful the success will be that much sweeter.

Week 1

This week I loved hearing the video message from President Hinckley, as I listened to him speaking I realized how much I missed hearing him every 6 months during conference. His message really stuck with me. The world is going downhill, and it's going fast enough without us helping it. As young people, we need to be strong and stay faithful so we don't get swept up in the destruction. I also liked what Guy Kawasaki said about doing what you love. He dropped out of law school after just ten days, he knew he didn't want it and he left. I hope I have the same determination and ability to stick to what I love and not waste time doing something that makes me miserable. As I am going through school and talking with my husband about what we want for our future I am trying to remember that it is not all about the money, it is about our happiness. I would rather be poor and happy, then rich and unhappy. I think about someone like Robin Williams, who passed away from suicide and I think about how many "things" he had. He could have bought anything in the world, and he was still unhappy. We need to focus on being happy in the future and not rich, if I can achieve both that's awesome, if not that's okay.
I also really liked when President Hinckley said we don't have to be a genius, we just have to do our best!
